I have a secret routine that I follow and a secret recipe I use for my DIY lip scrub. You’re pretty damn special if I am spilling ALL my secrets that make my lips absolutely irresistible. My lips & eyes are my favorite features and what I get the most compliments on, so you know your good sis has all the secrets.

Since the world is in the state it’s in, I made sure that it included things you’d have in your house already.

How To Get Soft Plump Lips

There are three things that play a huge role in soft, plump & juicy lips. The first thing is hydration, hydration, hydration! Listen, I don’t care how plump your lips are. If they are crusty & dry, it’s not cute! You can’t be out here looking bad as fuck with flaky & dry lips babe!

You gotta keep it cute, sis & hydrate from inside out. Water does the body good, keeps skin glowy and your lips soft. I recommend that you drink at least two liters (8.5 cups) a day.

Secondly, exfoliate. That’s it. That’s the second secret. The way I exfoliate is what makes it special and what gives me soft + plump lips.

I start off by putting my face over some hot steaming water + rose water (a bootleg version of a facial steamer). Then I’ll apply some lip balm. I prefer to use Glossier lip balm because it loosens dead skin REALLY well. However, you can literally use anything. You can use Carmex, Vaseline, Nivea, etc… Vaseline is probably best because of its thickness and you most likely have it at your disposal.

Apply the vaseline on your lips, then wet a toothbrush under some warm water & gently brush your lips. This method of exfoliation does two great things. It will remove all your dead skin, making your lips incredibly soft. The second thing it will do is plump your lips. You will notice soft + plump lips instantly.

Lastly, I apply an ultra-hydrating lip mask. I only apply a lip mask weekly, but it does wonders! I also apply glycolic acid, because I have extremely dry skin. So, while someone would only need to apply a lip balm, I have to do a little extra. I don’t want to tell you to do that, because I don’t know your skin and how it would react to glycolic acid. I just thought I’d mention it since it works so well for me.

I make my own lip mask because I don’t like to spend money unless I have to. Even if I was a millionaire, I would still be in the kitchen making my own beauty products.

Anyway, you only need two things to make this lip mask: coconut oil & honey. Both coconut oil and honey are moisturizing and locks in moisture. Massage on and around your lips to stimulate blood circulation & leave on for 5-10 minutes.

The only thing you need to do after rinsing off the lip mask is to apply a lip balm. Below I’ll list the ingredients for a DIY lip scrub & my two favorite lip balms.

DIY Lip Scrub

This DIY lip scrub only requires two things. You can use this recipe or the vaseline and toothbrush combo above. To create this DIY lip scrub, you need one teaspoon of honey and two teaspoons of sugar.

The BEST lip balms make my lips baby smooth are Glossier “the balm dotcom” lip balm and LanoLips lanolin lip balm. The Glossier lip balm can be found online here & LanoLips here. These lip products are magical and deeply penetrate your lips with hydration.

I hope this post on how to get soft plump lips & DIY lip scrub has helped you.
